8 Fall Essentials

Hey there! I hope you’re getting ready for cool weather. Here in Cali it’s not quite there yet but it’ll happen soon… I hope. Even though it’s not cool yet, it is TECHNICALLY autumn, so I’ve got my eye on cute outfits. I’ve got a few core pieces that could make your fall wardrobe run a bit smoother. Here are 8 Fall Essentials that you need in your wardrobe. These pieces work for most styles and can level-up your wardrobe. Let’s get into it!

1. Carryall Tote

Whether you are carrying school books, laptop or diapers and snacks, a roomu bag is a wardrobe staplemost busy women can't live without... and there is no reason it can't be fashionable! I love roomy bags with long handles, a handy crossbody, or even a backpack in canvas or leather.

2. Layerable Leggings

No fall wardrobe is complete without leggings... well any time of the year really, leggings are essential. Whether you want them for lounging at home, for extra warmth under a skirt, or to pair with a chunky sweater for running errands and sipping lattes... the possiblities are endless! Adding leggings to your wardrobe is a no-brainer.

3. Dark Wash Jeans

Denim and fall go together like Ugg boots and spice lattes. There's a huge selection of fits, sizes, washes and styles, you are sure to find the perfect pair if you understand your body type and how to dress it. A dark wash is the best choice since it can be dressed up or down.

4. Chunky Knit Sweater

Can you say cozy? Neutral colors can be matched to anything in your wardrobe, but don't be scared to get shaeds for fall. Whether you choose wool, cashmere or a breatheable blend, a thick, luxe sweater will pair well with your jeans, pants, skirts and leggings. Sounds like a winner to me!

5. Knit Dress

These babies will keep you cozy and comfortable all day long. A knit dress is one of the most versatile fall style essential to have in your closet, for it’s dress up and dress down capabilities. A cozy knit dress is a flattering dress on hand.

6. Fleece Hoodie

Sweats: Not just for the gym anymore! You've probably noticed that athleisure is starting to be fun and fashionable lately. I LOVE a hoddie with a bit of simplicity, for layering over a tee and jeans, or under a puffy vest. There are tons to choose from.

7. Cargo Jacket

The cargo jacket is not just a fad, it’s been a fashionable staple for a few seasons now. These details are just what you need to turn a basic tee and jeans into effortless chic. Whether you get one in olive, khaki or a more trendy shade like burgundy, throw it on over almost anything to really raise the style bar.

8. Ankle Boots

What’s better than your favorite cropped denim and a cute pair of booties? —it’s a look that just says “fall”. May I suggest adding a pop of color to your shoe collection with a pair of fall-friendly blackberry, pumpkin or goldenrod booties? It could be exactly the pop of color your closet needs.

BONUS PIECES

These two items depend on your personal style to determine if you need them as fall ESSENTIALS. They can definitely be a benefit for the versatility of your wardrobe, but I don’ think they are necessary for every style out there (*gasp* controversial, I know).

WHITE BUTTON DOWN

A white button-down can be considered a foundational piece for many styles. Paired with denim and ballet flats for french-girl chic, a plaid blazer and loafers for a sweet preppy look, or tucked into a pencil skirt and paired with heels to make workwear fun to wear. There are so many ways to style it!

PLAID BUTTON DOWN

Possibly the most classic autumn print out there, a fall wardrobe just doesn’t seem complete without a touch of plaid —and it comes in so many color combinations and styles. Although plaid screams autumn, some people are not as fired up about plaid as others, which is why it’s on the Bonus list.
