Path To Your Passion

The road to discovering your passion is full of pot holes, winding bends, sharp corners, delays and even u-turns.

Intentional living, expressing your passions and loving what you do is no accident. It is rooted in self discovery and personal development. If you’re like most people, it takes dedication, work and sometimes what might feel like going backwards, to abtain any goal.

I know for myself that it has been a long and winding road to stand where I am today. When people would ask me “So how did you get into life coaching?” I would kinda deny that this is what I do... it's still hard to admit because of the responsibility I feel. It has been one of the most winding of paths possible! There was no linear line connecting me with my purpose, I arrived here by a natural evolution, through experiencing many twists and turns. Some of you have been with me for a while and saw them.

I wouldn’t change one step of this path though. Each chapter, especially the hard ones, taught me more about myself and helped me decide on my future direction. Bit by bit, each experience has lead me directly to where I am today.

It’s only with the benefit of hindsight can I look back and see how it all worked together, and how one thing lead me to the next. I had many “What am I doing with my life?” moments. You NEED those moments in order to be consciously aware of how you’re feeling, how you’re living out your life, and where you want to head next.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. I'm a self-confessed control freak, I was taught that, “if you want something done, do it yourself!” and I believed that everything in my life should work in linear patterns. You know, "the shortest distance from point A to point B is a straight line". But I’ve now come to realise life is a continuous journey of change, different directions and unexpected circumstances. I still love creating vision and setting goals, but it all comes now from a place of ease, of trust, of flow. I now make room for the unexpected, and I trust myself so I'm more flexible.

We don’t have control over certain events that happen in our lives, but we do have control over how to respond to them. We have the choice to learn and grow from experiences or to ignore them and continue down the same unfulfilling path. Awareness is the key. Without it, you can’t evolve, you can’t grow, you can’t expand into the person you are meant to be.

One of the foundational pieces of finding your passion is awareness. As long as you are being curious, open and perceptive to yourself, to your experiences and to your reactions, you will have a constant stream of feedback, of information, of sign posts to keep you heading in the right direction.

DISCOVERING YOUR UNIQUE PASSION:

+ What do you love doing?

+ What are you good at? What could you be the best at?

+ What makes you happy?

+ What excites you?

+ What makes you feel accomplished and good about yourself?

+ What are you most proud of having accomplished in your life? Can you repeat this or further develop it?

+ What do you enjoy sharing of experiencing with people?

Be open and curious as to what comes up for you. Release any judgement of your answers, or pre-conceived notions of what you “should” be passionate about, sometimes the answers are what you least expected.

How was this exercise for you? Did any new information pop for you? What insights did you gain? What light bulb moments did you have?
